Recently, Duolun Technology has officially joined the OpenAtom Foundation with the role of silver sponsor and participated in the OpenHarmony project. This marks the company’s commitment to promoting the application of open source technology in the traffic safety industry on a larger platform and scale, enhancing the value contribution of open source technology to digital transformation.
Open Source Empowers Various Industries
From the perspective of national strategies, “open source” was explicitly included in the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development for the first time. The 14th Five-Year Plan mentions the need to support the development of innovation alliances such as digital technology open source communities, improve open source intellectual property rights and legal systems, and encourage companies to open source code of software, hardware design, and application services.
The OpenAtom Foundation was founded in Beijing in June 2020 with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the development of the global open source community, jointly initiated by leading technology companies such as Alibaba, Baidu, Huawei, Inspur, 360, Tencent, and China Merchants Bank.
The foundation follows the principles of co-construction, co-governance, and sharing, systematically builds an open and collaborative framework, establishes an international open source community, and facilitates industry collaboration, thus empowering various industries.
Jointly Promoting Industry Localization and Industrialization
As an official member of the OpenAtom Foundation, Duolun Technology, leveraging its profound expertise in intelligent driver training in China, focuses on the road traffic safety industry and collaborates with various industry stakeholders to innovate OpenHarmony application scenarios, develop smart vehicle administration, driver training, and traffic industry terminal solutions based on OpenHarmony. This initiative aims to establish industry-related standards and promote the localization and industrialization of the road traffic safety industry through exemplary benchmark solutions.
In recent years, Duolun Technology has actively explored and deployed in the HarmonyOS field. Leveraging its experience in the “people, vehicles, and roads” business domain, it focuses on vertical industries, typical scenarios, and common services based on OpenHarmony’s open source code and basic capabilities. Through collaboration with ecosystem partners, the company continuously improves the ecological construction in the sector and boosts the standardized development of industry applications.
In January 2024, Dunlun Technology and ArcherMind jointly developed a new-generation domestic intelligent terminal operating system based on OpenHarmony called Jiahong, which has successfully landed in pilot test areas, providing the transportation sector with a more intelligent, reliable, and secure digital platform.
Collaboratively Building a Prosperous Open Source Ecology
Since its establishment in 1995, Duolun Technology has been deeply involved in road traffic safety for nearly 30 years. It has successively established a national postdoctoral research workstation, a demonstration base for motor vehicle driver examination skills research, a Beidou satellite application technology research institute at the municipal level in Nanjing, and Duolun Technology Driving Safety Technology Research Institute, accumulating extensive scenarios, applications, and solutions.
Currently, some of Duolun Technology’s intelligent terminal products have been adapted to the HarmonyOS system. After joining the OpenAtom Foundation, the company will accelerate the development of more intelligent terminal products compatible with HarmonyOS, collaborate with traffic management departments nationwide and cooperative enterprises in the industry chain to jointly conduct research projects, create exemplary benchmark projects, actively participate in the HarmonyOS ecosystem construction, and drive industry localization and industrialization.
In the future, Duolun Technology will aim for “open source, openness, and ecology co-construction” by providing technical service capabilities that integrate full-stack hardware and software. It will focus on the informatization, digitization, and intelligence of the people-vehicle-road domain, concentrate on industry construction and talent cultivation, and work together with partners to follow the principles of co-construction, co-governance, and sharing, thereby flourishing the open source ecology.
